Overview
8.Com is a point-of-sale and inventory product for retail shops in Myanmar, starting with phone shops and fashion stores. It is sold as a cloud service: one backend runs every customer, and a super admin panel sets each customer's business type, devices and paid features.
The same app runs on three kinds of screens: a keyboard-driven PC till with function-key shortcuts for fast cashiers, and touch layouts for tablets and phones.
What I built
- Multi-tenant architecture. One Go service (net/http, pgx, sqlc) with a control database for customers and plans, and one PostgreSQL database per shop. Each shop's data is isolated, and migrations run per database.
- Presets and feature switches. Each business type (phone, fashion) is a preset of features. The super admin turns features on or off per customer, and the app hides what a shop does not use.
- Stock engine. Purchase, transfer, adjustment, stock count and consignment documents share one core. Costs use a moving average, and edits re-value only what changed, so the books stay consistent.
- Serial-level tracking. Phones are tracked by IMEI from purchase to sale and return.
- Offline sales. The till keeps selling without internet. Every sale carries a client ID, so a retry after a dropped connection is recognised and never double-counted.
- Engineering workflow. Spec first, then small tickets, test-driven builds and an independent review on every pull request, with AI coding agents doing much of the implementation under that process.
Stack
Go, PostgreSQL 17, sqlc, goose, Flutter (phone, tablet, Windows, macOS and web, including the super admin panel), Docker.
